McGregor hints at rematch against Mayweather

Recovering from a leg injury he sustained in the last match against Dustin Poirier, Irish star Conor McGregor is once again tickling the imagination of fans. Namely, yesterday, by posting on his Instagram profile, he hinted that we might be watching a boxing rematch against Floyd Mayweather.

As a reminder, we last saw Conor in action last summer, at UFC 264. In that fight, he lost to Dustin Poirier, and at the same time he broke his leg, so it was clear that the Irishman would recover for a longer period of time.

Although he said that he would return to the UFC soon, so it was not clear in which category because he also mentioned Welter, Conor posted a photo from the match against Mayweather on his Instagram profile yesterday and only briefly wrote in the description: "I accept."

The post

McGregor and Mayweather fought back in 2017 in a fight that was touted as “The Greatest Fight in the History of Martial Arts,” in which Conor provided a good match for Mayweather.

He lost by technical knockout in the tenth round, but given Mayweather’s resume, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. "What's sickening me is that the he is retired now," the Irishman said in an interview on stage with Caroline Pearce in 2017.

"That's what sickening me." He said: "I know if I went another go with him, under boxing rules, I'd get that win. I know that. I know after feeling him in that first fight, he had to change his whole approach.

"He fought completely different than he fought" before, said McGregor. "He couldn't figure out what I was doing early on. I feel with the lessons I learned, if I had another go around, I'd get it."

Whether this rematch will take place is still unknown. However, Mayweather himself recently said that he would be very happy to fight McGregor because it is "easy money" for him.
