Ryan Garcia is still undefeated

After somewhat weaker activity in 2020 and 2021, Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) already fought his second match in 2022. He did so many of them in 2020 and 2021. The 23-year-old from California, who is often said to have the "fastest hands" in boxing, performed last night in Los Angeles and gave a great performance.

Experienced 33-year-old Javier Fortuna (37-4-1, 2 NC) should have posed a more serious challenge for Garcia, but in the end, he proved to be inadequate for the task. Even three times Garcia sent Fortuna to the floor and the boxer from the Dominican Republic was counted.

The first time it happened was in the fourth round, then in the fifth, and the culmination came after Garcia rocked him for the third time. Then there was a break, and it happened in the sixth round. "I was crisp. I was sharp," Garcia said.

"I know how good a fighter I am. I just had to put it all together and you saw it come together today." Garcia said immediately after the match. This is Fortuna's second stoppage loss in his career, and he played as many as 44 matches.

He has only been knocked out by Jason Sosa, in the sixth month of 2016. However, it was a TKO in the 11th round, and Garcia ended it all through the first six rounds. Ryan Garcia is normally a lightweight boxer, but this match was fought in the super lightweight category (-140 'lbs').

When it comes to his next opponent, Ryan Garcia has been clear about his ambitions.

"Tank" is the next target

"100 percent, I felt way better," Garcia said. "I'm not going back to 135 for nothing but I will fight 'Tank' next.

If 'Tank' wants it at 140. Hey, I'm going to record all the negotiations so that you guys don't make no headlines saying I'm ducking. If he wants it, let's get it. ... That's going to give me the respect I deserve.

I'm never afraid. I've said I have a spirit of competition in me. You're going to see that come out when I fight tank and whoop his ass." Garcia said. Gervonta Davis currently holds the WBA (Regular) lightweight title and is undefeated through 27 professional appearances.

The 27-year-old "Tank" along with Garcia is one of the greatest potentials in these weight categories and it would be a match that would attract a lot of attention from the world boxing public.
