Dana White: This is the reason why Jake Paul canceled the fight!

Jake Paul decided to cancel his fight against Hasim Rahman Jr. Namely, Paul is disappointed because Rahman did not meet with the permitted weight. Dana White believes that all this is the result of insufficient sold tickets and little interest in this kind of match.

I think they sold under a million dollars in tickets, and it costs $500,000 to turn the f****** lights on at MSG,” White said at the UFC 277 post-fight press conference, as quoted by mmafighting. “That’s what I think.

“Not to mention hotel rooms in New York and transportation and everything else is very expensive”. However, Dana White does not wish any of the fighters ill because he is convinced that they put effort into all of this.

“I’m not going to sit up here and be happy or gloat that their fight fell out,” White said. “Both those guys I’m sure put in a lot of hard work and a lot of training to get ready for this fight, spent money to get ready for this fight”.

Dana White on Jake Paul's choice

He didn't want to directly criticize Jake Paul, but it was his choice of personnel that he was not happy with “I will say this, just because you were an accountant here doesn’t mean you know what the f*** goes on here,” White said on Paul's business partner Nakisa Bidarian, who is ex-Chief Financial Officer at the UFC.

“It doesn’t mean you can run a fight promotion company”. Dana White thinks that Jake Paul should change the people around him and make choices that would help him. “I think that Jake Paul probably needs to get some different people around him,” White said. “If he’s going to stay in the sport, he needs to be with guys that really know how to put on fights”.
