Evander Holyfield: Bivol vs Beterbiev is One of the Most Anticipated Fights

2023 is shaping up to be a big year for boxing, with several highly-anticipated match-ups on the horizon. Among the most eagerly awaited is the showdown between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, which is sure to be a blockbuster event.

But there are other bouts that fans are looking forward to as well, including a potential unification match between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. in the welterweight division. One fight that has caught the attention of many boxing experts is the potential showdown between light heavyweights Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev.

The two undefeated fighters are considered among the best in the world in their weight class, and a match between them would be a true battle of the titans. According to Evander Holyfield, a true boxing great, the Bivol vs Beterbiev fight is one of the most anticipated in the world.

"I think this fight will be exciting. It is important that everything is resolved in order to organize this fight," Holyfield said. The problem, however, is that the two fighters are represented by different promoters. Beterbiev is with Top Rank and Bob Arum, while Bivol is with Matchroom Boxing and Eddie Hearn.

This creates issues with the platform on which the fight would be broadcast, as Matchroom fighters appear on DAZN's streaming service, while Top Rank has a contract with ESPN.

Dmitry Bivol

Dmitry Bivol is currently undefeated (21-0, 11 KOs) and holds the WBA (Super) light heavyweight world title.

Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18 KO) is also undefeated and holds the remaining three world titles (WBC, IBF, WBO) in his possession. Bivol is known for his technique and tactical discipline, while Beterbiev is a knockout artist who has won all 18 of his fights by KO.

Beterbiev will defend his titles on January 28th against Anthony Yarde, and Bivol currently has no next match scheduled. Fans hope to see them go head-to-head in 2023, but as Anthony Yarde could upset Beterbiev later this month in London, it could change the plans.

The fight for the absolute light heavyweight champion of the world is one of the most anticipated matches at the moment, it would be a real shame if such things as promoter and platform issues block the biggest boxing matches.
