Canelo Alvarez is set to fight in his hometown against John Ryder

John Ryder is going to face the hardest test of his boxing career in May against the one and only Saul Canelo Alvarez. It is Ryder’s best opportunity to claim Canelo’s hard earnt belts, it’s a super middleweight bout, and the winner shall be cemented as the champion of the division.

A very competitive knock that can have a major impact on both the fighters’ careers. John Ryder has a height advantage against Canelo, and his professional boxing record is 32-5 (18 KO’s). Saul Canelo Alvarez has a magnificent record of 58-2-2(39 KO’s), bearing his losses to Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol.

As far as experience is concerned, Canelo is well ahead of his opponent. But not to be underestimated, John Ryder has tremendous knockout power and has the ability to dominate any of his opponents.

A crucial match for both the fighters

The event is fixed for the 6th of May in Canelo’s hometown Guadalajara, Akron stadium.

After a strong phase of 11 years, Canelo will be fighting again in his hometown. Canelo is coming out of a wrist surgery and is completely fine now to fight a boxing match. A win for John Ryder can elevate his boxing career to a whole new level, and that is exactly what he would be hoping to do.

On the flip side, a win for Canelo will allow him to boost his momentum, but a loss from here can turn out to be very expensive. Determination and willpower will play a huge role in deciding the outcome of the match; both the fighters seem to be ready, and it will be very interesting to see if John Ryder utilizes his opportunity to reshape his career.

Based on interviews, there seems to be mutual respect between the two fighters, and even when they faced off against each other, there was no drama involved. It was conducted very professionally. One thing is certain, the one with more grit shall win. (Image source: Betting Inside Journal)
