In an interview with Boxing Social, Anthony Joshua talked about Oleksandr Usyk and the difficulties he's faced since becoming champion. There was no agreement reached between the Ukrainian and Tyson Fury regarding the fight that was scheduled to take place.
There were many people who were surprised by the sudden change in the situation. In spite of this, Joshua is aware that the championship crown carries a lot of weight, so Usyk will have to wait and be patient. “It’s tough, man.
I’m telling you, being a champion, it ain’t easy at all. As I said, look at Usyk – he ain’t even got a fight date, bro. He’s a champion of the world. I was the last guy he fought and I’m fighting on Saturday.
He’s a champion. He should’ve been out twice by now. Being a champion should mean that you’re busy, you’re out, you’re active, you’re fighting. But it’s a f***ing headache”. - Joshua said, as quoted by boxing social.
Anthony Joshua is ready for Tyson Fury
During the press conference for his upcoming fight against Jermaine Franklin, Anthony Joshua surprised many by sharing his thoughts. Specifically, the Brit believes that after the fight between Usyk and Fury collapsed, he currently represents Tyson Fury's best option for a fight and is ready to fight him in the future.
Although there is a question about how realistic that is at this point, Joshua shows that he remains ambitious at this point. “There’s no better time! I feel like now, provided the Usyk doesn’t happen and he doesn’t fight anyone in between, Fury needs me at the minute”.
Joshua revealed who is to blame for the fight not taking place last year: “Maybe me? I didn’t meet his deadline”. The current situation on the boxing scene has never been more interesting. Things are constantly changing, and it is difficult to predict what awaits us in the future.
