Nate Diaz always had problems with the UFC contract, and 2023 is the year where he finally grabbed the opportunity to walk away as a free agent. His aim behind accepting the fight against Jake Paul is simply to compete against the best and secure a hefty fortune.
Since Jake Paul is undefeated against MMA fighters, fans and experts believe that Jake Paul will easily win the match against Nate Diaz. However, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor thinks differently and is in direct favour of his former opponent.
Conor McGregor’s thoughts on Paul vs Diaz
Recently in an interview with Ariel Helwani, Conor McGregor spoke about Nate Diaz as an opponent and showed respect towards him, and he also talks about his upcoming boxing debut against ‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul.
“Yeah, yeah, [the relationship] is competitive, but it’s always been respect,” McGregor said, as quoted by mmamania.com. “It’s always been respect – how could you not respect the Diaz brothers, and there resume in the fight game? Real fighters – what’s his promotion? Real Fighters Inc.
Fair play to him, you know, he’s a great fighter”. He further predicts Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz. “I fancy him for it to be honest, the other cat is a bit windy. He’s a donkey. The guy’s a donkey, the other cat.
But a donkey has a kick as well. You just have to be worried about that. “I just think it should be Nate. It will be Nate”. There’s a significant difference between a boxing and an MMA match; Nate Diaz seems to be preparing well for it and is also known for fighting against highly-skilled boxers in sparring sessions.
We shall soon see his preparation clips, and it will be interesting to see how well he performs in the realm of boxing; perhaps after his boxing venture, he will return back to the UFC and fight against the top-ranked contenders as he aspires to.
