Deontay Wilder believes Oleksandr Uysk is scared of him

Deontay Wilder has restricted himself to fighting only once a year; he last fought against Robert Helenius and claimed a brutal knockout victory. He finally broke out of the daunting losses that came up against ‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury.

It takes a lot of time to build momentum; however, Deontay Wilder is not so concerned about it and is ready to challenge himself against the undefeated Oleksandr Usyk. It is a possibility for the future; since Usyk is occupied for a bout against Daniel Dubois in August, we can expect Usyk to clash against Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder in 2024.

All fans should cross their fingers and hope for one of the heavyweight matches to get officially confirmed. 2023 seems to be the year of boxing, and hopefully, the year will not disappoint the expectations the boxing world has.

“We’ll see what happens. I’m going to keep Usyk to his word”, Wilder said, as quoted by boxingnews24.com. “We will be calling his team and whoever his handler is, and we’re going to see what’s up, and if he’s a man of his word, what a hell of a fight it would be”.

He further said: “I’m all for it, but he’s a little afraid. He’s not a little afraid, he’s a lot of afraid. You know, I’m in the business. I know a lot of things”. We could also see Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder in the ending phase of 2023; these are all possibilities; however, the negotiation stage is very lengthy, and lack of agreement is one of the main reasons behind the failure of confirming these mega-events.

“The Bronze Bomber” has many options to choose from, and it is interesting to see him add Oleksandr Usyk as a shortlisted opponent. He can fight easier opponents to build up winning momentum, but it looks like he wants to challenge himself, and that’s a great sign for Wilder and all his die-hard fans.
