Saudi Arabia had “absolutely nothing to do” with the ongoing disputes between Jeff Bezos and AMI, involving an extramarital relationship of Bezos, who claimed to be blackmailed by the National Enquirer, the Saudi Arabia’s minister of state for foreign affairs said on Sunday, the 10th of February, 2019.
On Thursday, the 7th of February, the Amazon Chief, Billionaire Jeff Bezos, accused the American Media Inc., the owner of National Enquirer of blackmailing and distortion over publishing “intimate photos”, which he allegedly sent to his girlfriend.
According to Jeff Bezos’ allegation, the National Enquirer forced him to acknowledge that the report on him was not politically motivated, leveraging the blackmail attempt with those intimate photos of him with his girlfriend, who happened to be a former Television anchor.
Besides, in a blog post, he also had been quoted saying that there have been links between AMI and Saudi Arabia. According to the blog post, Saudi Arabia had become utterly displeased at Bezos-owned Washington Post’s coverage on the murder of Saudi Journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which happened to be performed under the command of Saudi Crown Prince, the next royal king in line, Mohammed bin Salman.
Nonetheless, when asked about Saudi Arabia’s role in Bezos-AMI dispute in CBS’s “face the nation”, Adel Al-Jubeir, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, said on Sunday, the 10th of February.
"This is something between the two parties, we have nothing to do with it. It sounds to me like a soap opera."
