Oleg Deripaska says he sued US to save his life’s work

Russian businessmen, billionaire Oleg Deripaska, a close associate and ally of President Vladimir Putin had told on Friday, the 15th of March 2019, that he had recently initiated a lawsuit against United States to force the world’s largest economy to lift sanction over his company, because he could not just stand still watching his company, alongside life’s work being destroyed on US sanctions.

Oleg Deripaska, 51, founder of Basic Element, one of the largest industrial group of Russia, with net worth of $3.6 billion had issued a statement on Friday (March 15th) saying, “I have spent 30 years of my life building companies that are major players in the global economy, and will not let that hard work – along with millions of jobs and individual livelihoods – be destroyed by political scheming”.

In the recently filed legal lawsuit, Oleg Deripaska, a citizen of both Cyprus and Russia, had asked a Washington District Court to prevent US Treasury’s attempt to use such kind of “devastating power” of economic sanctions, arguing that the sanctions were inconsistent with the constitution of United States.

Meanwhile, German Politicians had recently fueled up the issue last week as a response to a US call to stop using Russian gas pipeline, as a majority of them had been quoted saying that the Russia-US-Germany triangle had been carrying out businesses even during pre- and post-cold war era and there had been nothing unconstitutional.
