On Sunday, the 9th of June 2019, US Treasury’s Mnuchin said that President Donald Trump could consider a potential head off on Huawei ban and curb restrictions over the world’s No. 1 telecom equipment gear maker, if there were progresses in China trade spats, however, if there had not been any deal, Trump would hold on to his hardline and maintain tariffs in order to trim trade deficits.
Adding that the President would guarantee an ease on Huawei ban if there was progresses in trade row, US Treasury Secretary, Secretary Mnuchin said on his Sunday (June 9th) speech, “I think what the president is saying is, if we move forward on trade, that perhaps he’ll be willing to do certain things on Huawei if he gets comfort from China on that and certain guarantees.
But these are national security issues. If China wants to move forward with the deal, we’re prepared to move forward on the terms we’ve done. If China doesn’t want to move forward, then President Trump is perfectly happy to move forward with tariffs to rebalance the relationship”.
While commenting about the recent US-Mexico tariff deal that averted another imminent trade war with a potential trade partner of Unites States, Mnuchin had been quotes saying that he believed that Mexico would be meeting its commitments on immigrant issue.
