TIM to extend 5G services to 6 more Italian cities this year

Italian telecommunication company, TIM, also operating under the name Telecom Italia, headquartered in Milan and Rome, had issued a statement on Friday, the 5th of June 2019, saying that the Italian Telecom tycoon had been exploring an option to expand its 5G coverage to six more cities in Italy this year alongside a handful of tourist destination and industrial areas.

Latest announcement of former Italian telecommunication monopolist came at a time, when the Telecom titan had been seeking a partnership with Vodafone in order to develop 5G network infrastructure to reduce cost and cover more areas of the country.

Nonetheless, TIM had already turned on its fifth-generation mobile networks on three business hubs of Italy, Naples, Rome and Turin, while the telecom giant had been planning to expand its 5G network to Milan, Verona, Florence, Bologna, Matera and Bari by the end of this year.

According to Friday’s (July 5th) the Italian telecommunication network developer had also added that it had been seeking to expand its service in more than 120 Italian cities alongside 200 tourist destinations this year, while it had been expecting to cover 245 industrial districts and more than 22 percent of Italian population by 2021.
