Facebook starts to verify UK political ads

On Thursday, the social network told that the UK advertisers, who wish to run political ads on the Facebook Inc., must have to reveal their identity, location and the people, who are paying for the ads., as Facebook has been scrutinized heavily followed by the Cambridge Analytica Scandal.

Starting from Thursday, ads related to politics would be hovered in an ad library for 7 years and unauthorized advertisers will not be allowed to run political ads, as the Facebook Director of Product Management, Rob Leathern mentioned in a blog post.

In the wake of major political events, the Britain’s parliament has been calling for an unofficial investigation to find out the data manipulators and the people, who have been behind the misleading of political information.

Facebook has been investigated by British lawmakers after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, in which the associates had been working in favor of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and they obtained personal data of 87 million Facebook users.

As the social media has already been used in several times on different political occasions, Facebook’s recent plan to avoid this misuse is to house the political contents in the Facebook’s ad library. The law will be set to move in to the US soil next year, as a Facebook spokesman commented in the wake of withering scrutiny and extended legs of bearish, Facebook shares this year.
