CNH Industrial’s Iveco unleashes first electric truck in JV with Nikola

Late on Monday, the 2nd of December 2019, Iveco SpA, the Turin, Italy-based industrial vehicles manufacturing company, owned by the London-based CNH Industrial, registered in Netherlands, employing more than 25,000 workers across the globe, had unleashed its first electric truck, the Nikola Tre, manufactured in a joint venture with the Phoenix, Arizona-based American hybrid truck designing start-up, Nikola Motor Co., remarking the first European carmaker to unveil an electric car after last week’s launch of Tesla Inc.’s futuristic Cybertruck.

In point of fact, the heavy electric truck built by Iveco, would likely to come as a breather for the smallest European conventional truckmaker, which had been grappling with an intense pressure in Europe from mighty car industry giants such as German Volkswagen AG, Daimler AG alongside Swiss Volvo Group.

However, expressing an out-and-out optimism over its JV with the Turin-based subsidiary of CNH Industrial, Nikola founder and Chief Executive, Trevor Milton said at a dinner in Turin late on Monday (December 2nd), “Just three months after we signed our partnership we have been able to deliver this prototype, just imagine what we’ll do in the next three years.

” On top of that, the Nikola CEO was also quoted saying on Tuesday (December 3rd) that the initial order figures for Nikola’s electric truck had already exceeded its current production capacity adding the trucks would be manufactured in full-electric and hydrogen-fuel model which would have a range of up to 1,000 kilometres following a single session of charge.
