Tesla boss Elon Musk wins defamation trial over ‘pedo guy’ tweet

On Friday, the 6th of December 2019, an LA federal court jury had ruled in favour of Tesla head Elon Musk in a much-hyped defamation lawsuit which was brought upon him as a bolt out of the blue by a British cave explorer, Vernon Unsworth, who Musk had remarked as a “pedo guy” in a tweet at some point during an argument.

In point of fact, following a short-lived trial that ran for only four days, the decision was handed over to a jury board of five women and three men, while the jury in its unanimous decision ruled the case in favour of the Tesla head, since the twitter message was considered to be meaded out of an argument between two men and the jury amounted it nothing but a simple insult, while Musk’s attorney, Alex Spiro was quoted saying during the trial that it was common to insult people in arguments and there had not been any kind of bomb triggered on to the plaintiff Vernon Unsworth, who had been flaunting for days that Musk’s tweet had shattered his image.

However, Unsworth, who had also hyped his estimated net worth at $20 billion at some point of the four-day-long trial, had been seeking for a whopping sum of $190 million in damages against the Tesla head for the ‘pedo guy’ tweet, while exiting the courtroom after Friday’s (December 6th) verdict of a much-advertised defamation lawsuit that went in favour of him, Tesla Inc. Chief said, “My faith in humanity is restored. ”
