Private equity firm, Thomas Bravo LLC has been in the early talks with TPG Capital & Intel Corp. to purchase the security company, McAfee, a source familiar with this matter mentioned on Friday, the 14th of December. According to the source, the talks are at a very early stage and the talks might not lead to a lead, as the terms of the deal have not yet set.
While Intel Corp. and TPG capital declined to comment in this regard, the Thomas Bravo did not respond while being requested for a comment
. Intel paid $7.7 billion for the California based Security company McAfee and sold 51 percent stake of the company to TPG for $4.2billion last year.As Thomas Bravo had been rushing to consolidate the cyber security sector, a friendly trade deal with Intel Corp. and TPG over the security company McAfee could indubitably bolster the health of Thomas Bravo LLC
. As Thomas Bravo LLC has been looking to solidify the cyber security sector, it has completed several mergers in the last couple of months.In October, the Thomas Bravo LLC had announced a $2.1 billion acquisition of Imperva Inc. Last month, it confirmed the acquisition of another cyber security firm, Veracode from Broadcom Inc. for $950 million
. Apart from the recent take overs, it had also approached Symantec Corp with an offer and it is in talk with TPG and Intel Corp.for McAfee take over as well, though the ultimate intention of Thomas Bravo LLC behind the large-scale merger of multiple security companies remained concealed.
