Hackers acting on Turk’s interest believed to be behind latest cyberattacks

A slew of sweeping cyberattacks targeted at Government and non-Government organizations in Europe and Middle East, were believed to be stemmed from a Turk-backed hackers’ campaign acting on behalf of Turkey Government of Tayyip Erdogan, at least three senior Western Security Officials had unveiled on Monday, the 27th of January 2020.

In point of fact, after the 'bloc' had chosen to be on sides of Cyprus and Greece regarding disputes on maritime borders which believed to be a large reservoir of natgas and oil, the hackers had attacked more than 30 organizations, both Government-owned and non-Government, while the recent activities included attacks in e-mails accounts of Cypriot and Greek Governments’ officials alongside the national security advisor of Iraq, a review conducted by a press agency had revealed on Monday (January 27th).

On top of that, according to the Internet public records, the attacks were executed by intercepting internet traffic to the victims’ websites, which in effect allowed the hackers to obtain confidential information and Government data.

Meanwhile, when questioned on the attacks, the Turkey Interior Ministry declined to comment, while the Cypriot Government said in a statement, “Relevant agencies were immediately aware of the attacks and moved to contain them.

We will not comment on specifics for reasons of national security. ”
