German software group SAP pledges to support flagship platform until 2040

Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg-based German software firm SAP Germany, much-known for its ERP software with regional offices in more than 180 countries, had issued a statement late on Tuesday, the 4th of February 2020, saying that the software firm would continue to provide support for its flagship S/4HANA platform, a prudent move that SAP users in both home and abroad said would proffer more them confidence to upgrade.

Apart from that, the German software firm had also added in its Tuesday’s (February 4th) statement that the company would be providing maintenance support for its premium Business Suite 7 software for at least seven more years, two years longer than forecasted earlier, while the company had also hinted that it could extend maintenance support until end-2030.

If truth is to be told, latest SAP move would ease upgrade-related concerns and the clients of SAP’s legacy business software would be able to weather the pressures of grappling with a highly complicated system overhaul.

Meanwhile, adding that the German software firm was looking to a long-term commitment from its legacy business software clients, SAP co-CEO Christian Klein said late on Tuesday (February 4th), “Our customers show us that SAP S/4HANA is their future direction and that they expect a long-term commitment from SAP to this platform”.
