Amazon warehouses to receive only vital supplies in US, Europe amid coronavirus

On Tuesday, the 17th of March 2020, the Seattle, Washington-based world’s largest online retailer Amazon.com Inc. has sent a letter to its sellers saying the retailing industry giant would only accept vital supplies at its US and European warehouses until April 5th in order to free up inventory space for critical household and medical supplies, remarking the intensity of the panic-driven buying of basic goods amid coronavirus outbreak.

Nonetheless, the Amazon.com Inc.

letter issued to its sellers had also added that the change in inventory policy would not mean that the Seattle retailer would stop selling non-essential items and luxury goods likes of phones and child’s playthings, but the sellers might run of stock over the coming weeks amid growing demand of basic supplies.

Meanwhile, adding that the Amazon.com Inc. had decided to prioritize household goods and medical supplies, the US-based multinational retailer was quoted saying in its Tuesday’s (March 17th) letter that the retailing industry megalith had been experiencing a havoc-scale surge in online shopping and its medical supplies alongside household essentials had been running out of stocks, while to avert a lag of critical items, Amazon had decided to prioritize household and medical goods in a bid to “quickly receive, restock, and ship these products to customers”.
