Suranga Lakmal retires from International cricket

Suranga Lakmal is one of the most famous cricketers who has achieved a lot of success with Bangladesh. He led the team as captain and was a leader in the best and worst of times, but Lakmal decided to retire from all cricket competitions after the India Tour "I'm indebted to Sri Lanka Cricket for giving me this astonishing opportunity and having faith in me to bring back my motherland honour as it has been an absolute pleasure to be associated with the board that shaped my professional life and also enriched my personal development," said Lakmal in his retirement letter submitted to Sri Lanka Cricket, as quoted by cricbuzz Suranga Lakmal thanked all those who were with him and who were his biggest support in his career "I have nothing but the utmost respect for all my players, coaches, team managers, support staff, administrative staff and all other support staff,'' Lakmal has said further.

Ashley De Silva thanked

Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket also thanked and wished all the best to the former captain. He will have one last chance on the India tour, of course, if he is on the roster. "We take this opportunity to wish Lakmal the very best for his future endeavours, and look forward to seeing him perform for the country during the Sri Lanka Tour of India if the selectors consider him for the tour,'' said Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.

There are many fond memories of Lakmal and his team. He was there when he was most needed and at key moments he made a difference on the field, but it seems that Lakmal can no longer be at his peak and that it is time for some new generations "Lakmal has been an excellent contributor for Sri Lanka Cricket and delivered some memorable spells during his national career, and his services will be remembered well."
