As Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today, the Russian government and Belarus have reached an agreement to station tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. Vladimir Putin does not consider such a move bizarre, given that the USA has done and is doing similar things on the territories of other countries.

"There is nothing unusual here either, first of all, the US has been doing this for decades. They deployed their tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of their allied countries a long time ago," Putin said. However, Putin emphasized that this move did not violate legal acts.

"We agreed to do the same, without violating our obligations, I emphasize, without violating our international obligations on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons," the Russian president concluded.

Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping

A few days ago, Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a couple of meetings to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell thinks this is a great thing, considering China's ambitions to stop a potential nuclear war. "One important thing is that this visit reduces the risk of nuclear war and the Chinese authorities have made that very, very clear," Borrell said in Brussels.

Despite the tense situation in Ukraine, it is evident that Vladimir Putin has not stopped and he has goals that he wants to achieve, so the situation in Ukraine will remain tense. In terms of the overall story, it is still unclear how long it will continue, but it is certain that the Russians will not have an easy task, as they did not expect that the Ukrainians would present them with so many problems that they will have to deal with.

The assistance from Europe to Ukraine is, of course, crucial, and without it, it would be difficult for the Ukrainians to fight for themselves for such a long period of time. In spite of that, we do not want to underestimate the courage of the Ukrainian soldiers who demonstrated what it means to love one's homeland in a very special way.
