Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, arrived in Rome for talks with Italian officials as well as Pope Francis, who said the Vatican had been launching a behind-the-scenes initiative to try to end the war which Russia had launched last year.
According to Italian media, Zelensky arrived at the Ciampino military airport and was met by the Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who was there to greet him. "Today in Rome. I'm meeting with President of Italy Sergio Mattarella, Prime Minister of Italy @GiorgiaMeloni and the Pope @Pontifex.
An important visit for approaching victory of Ukraine! ð®ð¹ð¤ðºð¦ð¤ð»ð¦",- Zelensky wrote on his Twitter.
The precise schedule of Zelensky's visit has not been made public due to security concerns, and the Vatican only confirmed the papal meeting shortly before Zelensky's plane touched down in Rome.
Security measures
According to an Italian state radio report, as part of the protective measures, a no-fly zone has been set up in the skies above Rome, and police snipers have been strategically positioned on tall buildings as part of the protective measures.
A meeting between Meloni and Zelensky took place in Kiev just before the anniversary of the full-scale invasion by the Russians in February of 2022. Having been eager for peace for a long time, Pope Francis has last met with the Ukrainian leader in the year 2020.
There is a lot of hope that the war in Ukraine will soon come to an end, but the end is still far away. Vladimir Putin and those who are following him do not give up on their goals, and they are persistent in reaching their goals.
As a key figure in achieving peace for his country, Zelensky tries every possible way to successfully help his country in any way he can. In spite of this, it is almost impossible to work with the leader of the Russia.
