A soccer manager was shot dead in Mexico during an armed attack during an amateur match. As reported by the local media and as seen in the terrifying video, four assailants arrived on the sideline and shot down one of the two coaches, before fleeing.

The police are now investigating to trace the killers, for what appears to be an execution. Another man was injured. The match, which is taking place on a Unione Sportiva Cajeme field, was temporarily stopped due to a player who was down due to an injury. Suddenly, in the silence of the still game, ten shots are fired.

The terrible event occurred in Ciudad Obregón, in the Mexican state of Sonora, and on the evening of Wednesday 19 July, the Gamesa Union, which broadcasts the match live on social media, and the Coca Cola Union compete on the field.

State Attorney General Gustavo Rómulo Salas said: "Four subjects got out of a vehicle to carry out a direct attack on this person, and we already have information on the motive and possible masterminds of those who were the actual perpetrators." Jorge Lamarque, municipal president of Cajeme, instead said that what happened is part of the problem of poor security and organized crime that his administration is fighting.

According to local media, this execution brings to 27 the intentional homicides recorded in the month of July alone in Cajeme. In 2022, Ciudad Obregón was listed as the third most violent city in the world.

The fact

Several gunshots hit the 44-year-old coach Jorge Alberto N., who is well known in the area.

According to some witnesses, the man was leaning against the perimeter fence of the sports field when he was fatally shot. After firing shots, the attackers fled. In a short time, the police officers and the paramedics of the Red Cross rushed to the scene, who could not help but ascertain the death of the coach.

The players turn around, someone runs, the referee blows the whistle to end the game. The commentator, realizing what happened, communicates everything to the crowd: "This match is over, gentlemen, unfortunately a murder has just occurred here on the sidelines." State Attorney General's Office (FGJE) announced that, in addition to the execution of Jorge Alberto N., a 19-year-old young man, identified as Francisco Javier N., was also injured in the ambush and was transferred to hospital to be treated.
