At least six individuals lost their lives, while 16 others sustained injuries, following a Russian missile strike on a postal terminal in Ukraine's Kharkiv region. The attack, described by officials and international observers as another tragic incident in a series of Russian aggressions against Ukraine, has once again stirred global condemnation.

Details of the Attack

On Saturday, Russian forces launched two missiles from the Belgorod region, situated near the Ukrainian border. Their target was a building housing a logistics company located in the Kharkiv region, as confirmed by Dmytro Chubenko, the spokesperson for the Kharkiv region prosecutor’s office.

In the aftermath of the attack, search and rescue operations were swiftly initiated. Chubenko mentioned that efforts to identify the victims are still in progress. Following the tragedy, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took to the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, to express his outrage.

“Terror and murder will not get Russia anywhere. Terrorists will end up facing justice for everything they have done,” Zelensky remarked. Bridget Brink, the United States Ambassador to Ukraine, did not hold back in condemning the vicious assault.

Referring to the missile strike on the Kharkiv postal office as "horrific," she said on social media, “Again, overnight horrific images of Russian violence against civilians in Ukraine – a missile attack on a postal office in Kharkiv killed 6 people and seriously injured more.

The Kremlin’s disregard for life is for all the world to see. The United States stands with Ukraine to hold Russia accountable”.

Kharkiv's Continued Struggle and Other Assaults

Kharkiv, situated in northeastern Ukraine, experienced liberation from Russian occupation at the hands of Kyiv's forces just last year.

Yet, the city has consistently been on the receiving end of frequent aerial assaults orchestrated by Moscow. In a separate incident, Russian airstrikes targeted the town of Beryslav in the southern Kherson region. The aftermath of this strike saw the tragic death of an elderly woman.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of Kherson's military, shared on Telegram, “The occupiers launched four guided aerial bombs at Beryslav. An 80-year-old woman sustained severe injuries in her own house. The woman died on the spot from her injuries”. Additionally, seven other individuals were harmed due to these strikes.
