In the courtyard of Shifa Hospital, surrounded by Israeli forces, hundreds of corpses have accumulated, raising concerns about the potential for an epidemic and a genuine disaster, warned Yusuf Abu al-Rish, the deputy Palestinian minister of health in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Rish stated to Anadolu, "The Israeli forces are targeting the yard of Shifa Hospital, where hundreds of corpses are piled up. The situation here heralds an epidemic and a real disaster." Highlighting the dire humanitarian situation, Abu al-Rish added, "The situation in the Shifa Medical Complex, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, is very dangerous.
People are forced to leave the hospital even though they are injured. We have repeatedly demanded the safety of our patients during evacuation." Due to Israel's ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip, Abu al-Rish noted that the Ministry of Health can no longer accurately count the dead and injured.
Holding "the Israeli administration, the international community, and international institutions" responsible for the hospital's siege, Abu al-Rish urged the world to promptly provide fuel to Shifa Hospital to save its patients.
Mohammed Zakut
Mohammed Zakut, Gaza Hospitals General Director, expressed the difficulty of evacuating patients, newborns, and the injured from Shifa Hospital, which has been under siege by Israel for three days. In a recent incident, Israel claimed a military base was established by Hamas under the hospital and bombed a building on the Shifa Hospital campus and its surroundings.
This attack resulted in loss of life and numerous injuries. According to a statement from the Gaza government, 22 of Gaza's 35 hospitals have become inoperable either due to Israeli attacks since October 7 or due to a lack of fuel.
The situation remains the same for now and there is no indication that there will be any changes. The people are in fear, considering that every day there are more and more victims. The goals of this war are clear, but the question is why no one has a concrete reaction?
