Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is one of the greatest fighters for the freedom of the Palestinians. Ever since the beginning of the war in the Middle East, Erdogan has emphasized many times that it is necessary to help the Palestinians in the most difficult times in their history.

In his speech a few days ago at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Erdogan expressed a special kind of anger towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Erdogan compared him to Slobodan Milosevic, the Yugoslav ex-President who was convicted of war crimes in The Hague.

"Beyond being a war criminal, Netanyahu, who is the butcher of Gaza right now, will be tried as the butcher of Gaza, just as Milosevic was tried," Erdogan said, as quoted by reuters.com! Erdogan believes that killing civilians cannot be justified.

The fact is that Israelis cite Hamas attacks as justification for what they are doing. The Turkish president thinks this is wrong. "Those who try to skip over the deaths of all those innocent people by using the excuse of Hamas have nothing left to say to humanity," he said.

United Nations Human Rights Council

He expects a reaction from the United Nations Human Rights Council and the International Criminal Court in the coming period. "We must absolutely evaluate the United Nations Human Rights Council and the International Criminal Court (ICC) within this framework," he said.

The Turkish president calls for reforms, given that he is angry at the reactions of the UN. He believes that their reactions must be more concrete and that it is necessary to do something at this moment. It is difficult to expect any changes in the near future.

"The sincere efforts of Secretary General (Antonio) Guterres were sabotaged by the Security Council members," he said. "None of us have to accept this system. It is not possible for such a structure to bring peace or hope to humanity."
