Sweden joined NATO in Washington on Thursday. Swedes have realized that Russia's policy towards Ukraine is not friendly at all, and there is serious fear of this country's next plans.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson handed over the final documentation to the U.S. government on Thursday, marking the last step in this process. Many believe that Swedes have done the right thing, and now they have the level of security they needed.

Immediately after their accession to NATO, there was a large number of reactions from high officials worldwide. Many were most interested in the reaction of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president. The Ukrainian leader was clear and direct in his address, stating;

"One more country in Europe has achieved greater protection from Russian evil."- Zelenskyy said as quoted by PRAVDA!

Zelenskyy on the importance of cooperation

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of cooperation and how crucial it is for European countries to have excellent relations. The Ukrainian president has repeatedly emphasized that Europe faces a huge danger from Russia, especially if they achieve their primary goal in Ukraine;

"Now, at a time of Russian aggression against everything that has made Europe peaceful and united, everyone sees how important it is to maintain alliances and partnerships, to strengthen our own security and to take care of the security of neighbours," he continued.

The Ukrainian president hopes that the future brings some brighter things for him and his country. Zelenskyy believes that Ukraine will soon become a member of NATO, which will likely be the most important thing for this country. Ukrainians need support from Europe and the world at this moment. Without such support, they will face a difficult task defending themselves against such an opponent.

"Ukraine has always fundamentally supported Sweden's NATO membership. I want to thank Sweden for its support. There will come a day when Sweden will be able to congratulate Ukraine on joining the Alliance as well."
