The ceasefire between Israel and Palestine has not been established, not yet. Judging by the assessments of political and war experts, it is unlikely to happen anytime soon. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, in a media interview, spoke candidly about the conflict with Israel and revealed why they failed to reach an agreement and establish a ceasefire.

He emphasized that Israelis have no intention of withdrawing their soldiers and ensuring the return of displaced Gazans. Under such conditions, it is difficult to achieve peace, and the leader of Hamas wants these conditions to be fulfilled.

"Israel evaded giving clear guarantees regarding the ceasefire, the withdrawal of its forces or the guarantees for the return of the displaced Gazans.”- he said, as quoted by timesofisrael

Ismail Haniyeh: Hamas showed positivity and responsibility

Hamas carried out an attack on Israel in October last year, resulting in significant consequences for the Palestinian people. Israelis firmly stand behind their positions and aim to completely destroy Hamas, fearing a repeat of such actions in the near future. They believe the conflict cannot end without dismantling this group. Ismail Haniyeh highlighted that Hamas has shown willingness to negotiate, even considering certain compromises. However, their primary demand is the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Palestine. Haniyeh refuses further negotiations until this condition is met.

"Hamas showed positivity and responsibility in the course of the negotiations. We will not accept an agreement that does not end the war or expel the enemy from Gaza.”- he continued.

Haniyeh also confirmed that Palestine has no intention of releasing hostages unless there is a complete ceasefire. He emphasized that Israeli plans in Gaza have failed, and their people are still in Palestine after the entire chaos. He is impressed by the courage of Palestinians who show patriotism and love when it is most challenging.

“The Zionist enemy has failed in all its plans in Gaza, and our people are steadfast in their land despite the thousands of martyrs, wounded and missing people,” says Haniyeh
