Russia attacked Kiev early this morning with cruise and ballistic missiles and drones. The operational command of the Polish army announced that aircraft from this country and other NATO allies were scrambled tonight to protect Poland's airspace following reports of Russian missile attacks on Ukraine.

This was stated in a command announcement on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Russian forces launched missile attacks on several Ukrainian regions overnight and this morning. The air raid warning lasted for several hours across Ukraine, including border regions bordering Poland.

As reported by Kiev Independent, several journalists from this media outlet heard explosions around four o'clock this morning. Explosions echoed at 5 o'clock. Oleh Kiper, governor of the Odessa region, announced that explosions were heard in the city of Odessa at five o'clock local time.

The Kiev city administration announced that one person was injured in the Ukrainian capital. Fires broke out in two districts in Kiev and firefighters were dispatched there. They are trying to contain the fire in a warehouse and an industrial facility.

The Ukrainian Air Force also warned of the danger of Russian cruise missiles and drones, codenamed Shahid, and an air hazard alert was activated nationwide. Kiev Independent reports that there are no reports of casualties at this time.

It is stated that sirens in most of Ukraine were turned off at 4:45 am, and in the remaining areas at 5:15 am. However, just an hour later, at 6:15 am, the air hazard alert was reactivated nationwide in Ukraine after the Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning of incoming missiles fired from Russian MiG-31 fighter jets.
