Remco Evenepoel will have difficult challenges in the future. After the crash he had in La Vuelta, Remco feels stiff muscles. He was not lucky, and in the end, Primoz Roglic celebrated. Evenepoel is happy with his performance. He invested the maximum and the quality came to the surface.

“It's actually my first time finishing [at] high [altitude] so I think I did quite well. Jumbo [Visma] did a really good race, my team as well,” Evenepoel said for eurosport.com What can make him happy is the fact that he didn't lose much with the crash.

Today Remco will have a day of rest, which will come in handy to prepare for the most important. “The start was really hard again, then [there was] a bit of a strange breakaway. I still feel stiff muscles from the crash but it’s getting better every day so I’m really happy that it’s a rest day tomorrow and that I actually lost almost nothing.

So [it’s been] a good day for us”.

Third week

The third week brings many surprises. Remco is an optimist and expects a good result even though he had an accident. “Now the third week [will be] another story,” added Evenepoel. “The climbs are not super, super hard anymore so I think, yesterday I had a pretty s**t day.

Evenepoel believes that he coped brilliantly in a difficult situation. The positive thing about him is that he believes in himself despite all the adversities, and that he is an optimist for the next races. Remco is aware of the competition, but he is also aware of his own qualities.

“Today was better so in the end I lost almost no time. I had to do the whole climb and then Primoz attacked me with 2km to go, which is in his right, but I think I managed it very well”.
