Bottas says he is ready to win with Alpha Romeo after Mercedes departure

F1 driver Valtteri Bottas, who helped Mercedes win five constructor’s championship title between 2017 and 2021, recently opens up on how he is feeling after departing Mercedes in an interview with PEOPLE. Speaking in the interview with PEOPLE, the 32-year-old said he is a much stronger man now and that prepared to win with Alpha Romeo, as the Finnish with 10 F1 race wins and 67 podium finishes added, “I've definitely grown as a person a lot.

Obviously, I've learned how a championship-winning team works and what kind of mindset it needs. I've learned a lot about teamwork. I've learned a lot of technical knowledge. I think I've also learned to deal with setbacks. Sometimes, I put too much pressure on myself.

I've had many ups and downs and learned how to bounce back. And I think it's just made me a lot stronger person overall. I almost feel nothing can really shake me. I just feel like the only way is up. It felt good. Getting both cars into top 10 in our first race together was a great start.

It gives a lot of courage and motivation that this project is real and the goals we have set can be achieved”.

Bottas sees Alpha Romeo opportunity as a fresh start

Bottas, who has been under the shadows of Mercedes’ star Lewis Hamilton over five long years, has already made an affirmative impression this season with Alpha Romeo, as the 32-year-old Finnish had concluded the Bahrain GP at sixth.

Bottas alongside his former team, Mercedes, concluded their contracts after last year’s season closure in Abu Dhabi GP, putting an end to a fruitful partnership that had witnessed five straight constructor’s championship for Mercedes.

Back in the September of 2021, Alpha Romeo said in a statement that Bottas had signed off a multi-year deal with the Swiss racing team.
