Max Verstappen had a problem at the race in Australia regarding the fuel system which 'kicked' him out of the race. We can assume that this result does not make him happy and that this time the path to the title is difficult for him, but still, the season is long and everything is possible until the very end.
Verstappen expects his team to fix the car, and not make the same mistakes as before. “Being already so far down in the championship, I think it's 46 points, from now on we need to be ahead,” Verstappen said, as quoted by motorsport.
“We need to quicker, which we are not at the moment. And we need to be reliable, which we are also not. So there's a lot of things to work on”. Motorsport reporters asked him about the chance he had of the title this year, and Verstappen replied: “I don't even think about it.
At the moment, there is no reason to believe in it”.
Christian Horner on the car
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is not so pessimistic and expects that they can 'create' a fast car, which will be able to match the strongest.
For now, Ferrari is showing the best performance, and this could be a great season for them. “We’re only just over 10% of the way into the championship,” he said. “So I think there’s still a huge amount to go.
The encouraging thing is we’ve got the basis of a quick car”. Horner has calmed his passions and expects from Verstappen only the best in the coming period. “He’s obviously frustrated when he initially got out of the car, but he knows we’re all in it together as a team,” Horner said.
“We’ll bounce back. I’m sure he’ll be coming back strong at Imola”. Exciting season until the very end, by all accounts.
