Ahead of the Italian GP, Mercedes F1 driver George Russell said in an interview with a press agency that Red Bull and Verstappen should take an easy win at home in Italian GP. Besides, the Mercedes’ F1 driver who started on pole 2, added that Verstappen is a palpable favourite irrespective of wherever he begins from.
Nevertheless, on Saturday’s Q3, Verstappen finishes at second-fastest, but would have to digest a five-place penalty, while Leclerc began from pole position. However, there had been massive confusion after Q3, as nine drivers had been met with penalties for engine changes.
Russell says Italian GP should be a swift victory for Verstappen
Apart from that, at a faster Italian GP track with four long troughs to break through the thin air with at least at a 325 km/h speed, Red Bull seems to be a clear favourite, suggested F1 analysts.
Meanwhile, Russel, who will start at P2, said in an interview with a press agency that Verstappen should be back at No 1 in no time adding, “[You've] got to be pretty stupid to bet against it.
He just needs to keep his nose clean in the first two laps and he'll cruise to victory. My race runs, they felt really good, so very happy with that pace. So, I'm actually really looking forward to the race tomorrow”.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has totalled 310 points with 10 points and 12 podium finishes, while a smooth victory at Italian GP will cement his position further in this season’s F1 driver’s championship title race.
