Mercedes extends partnership with Petronas from 2026

Late on Wednesday, Mercedes F1 Team had issued a statement saying that the Formula One Juggernaut will extend its title and technical collaboration with Petronas from 2026. Since Petronas had joined Mercedes back in the 2010s, the Formula One giant had won eight constructor’s title.

However, following a sweeping reform in F1 car development regulation this year, Mercedes had been struggling to find a solid ground so far the season with only six events remaining. Besides, neither Hamilton, Nor Russell had secured a single victory this season.

Nevertheless, if blatantly a truth is to be unveiled, the speed Red Bull and Ferrari engineers are generating, is impossible to grapple with.

Besides, followed by the announcement, Mercedes Chief alongside the F1 team Chief Toto Wolff said in a statement, “Today we are doing something a little bit unusual -- announcing a partnership that will begin in four years' time.

"This sends an important message: our team and Petronas are no longer just partners, we are family, and we will be one team for many more years to come. From 2026, advanced sustainable fuel will be at the heart of F1 performance -- and this gives us a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate our expertise in this domain, through both the power unit and Petronas Fluid Technology Solutions”.
