F1 team bosses choose Verstappen as the best driver of 2022

Formula 1 team bosses had voted the reigning F1 double championship title holder Max Verstappen as the best driver of 2022, the F1 had revealed on Tuesday. All ten Formula 1 team principals had been asked to handpick their favourites of the season, and the 25-year-old flying Dutchman became the best racer of the year for a second successive season.

Here are the team principals who participated in the voting poll:
Mattia Binotto, Jost Capito, Christian Horner, Mike Krack, Andreas Seidl, Guenther Steiner, Otmar Szafnauer, Franz Tost, Fred Vasseur and Toto Wolff

F1 bosses voted Verstappen as the best driver of the season

The scoring was based on Formula 1 pointing system, while the best would receive 25 points and the lowest had been 10 points.

Upon completion of the voting, Verstappen’s scores had crushed his nearest competitor, Ferrari’s Leclerc by 63 points. Here is the score-line according to F1 team principal’s voting:

  1. Max Verstappen 207
  2. Charles Leclerc 144
  3. George Russell 127
  4. Lewis Hamilton 100
  5. Sergio Perez 91
  6. Lando Norris 81
  7. Carlos Sainz 68
  8. Fernando Alonso 67
  9. Valtteri Bottas 29
  10. Sebastian Vettel 24
If truth is to be spoken, 2022 F1 season had been a much smoother run for Max Verstappen compared to 2021, when the Dutchman had snatched the title from the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton following a dubitable season finale in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, while many F1 analysts are still saying that the title was robbed from the 37-year-old.

Nevertheless, despite a little resistance earlier in the season from Charles Leclerc, Verstappen did not face off much resistance in 2022 in terms of driver’s championship title. Verstappen broke a number of records this season including the highest number of victories by any racer in a F1 season. The Dutchman won 15 races out of 22 this season.
