The Face Behind the Legend
After much anticipation, Netflix has finally revealed the actor chosen to bring the legendary driver to life.
Gabriel Leone, a 29-year-old Brazilian actor best known for his role in Amazon's "Dom" series, will be portraying Senna in the upcoming biopic. This will be the biggest project of Leone's career so far and a huge opportunity for him to make a mark in the world of film and television.
Leone, who cites "Rush" as one of his favorite films, expressed his excitement about the role, saying: "It is a huge responsibility and also a great honor to be able to represent an icon who inspired so many people throughout his life, showing the world Brazilian sporting talent.
Knowing that we will bring this story to millions of people in so many countries, through Netflix, inspires me to see this as one of the great roles of my career." Senna's sister, Viviane, also spoke highly of Leone's casting, stating: "He has the ability to faithfully portray Ayrton's unique personality, especially the Ayrton that we as a family knew, off the track."
A Look into the Past
The series will cover the period from Senna's debut in Formula 1 to his tragic end.
Although several well-known actors were considered for the role, the directors ultimately chose Leone, who bears a striking resemblance to the late driver. Fans will have to wait a while longer for the series, as it is scheduled to air in the middle of next year with six 60-minute episodes.
The biopic promises to be a thrilling and emotional journey through the life of one of the greatest drivers in history.
