George Russell entered this season with great ambitions just like every previous one. Russell believes that he must make a breakthrough this year, and Toto Wolff will be an important link in the whole story. Russell has emphasized many times the importance of Wolff and what he does for the team.
Speaking to Square Mile, Russell had nothing but praise for Toto Wolff. "He’s been an integral part of my career,” Russell said to Square Mile, as quoted by crash.net “Highly intelligent, a charismatic bloke, he’s been a huge part of the success of the team and is going to be a huge part of the return of Mercedes after what’s been a difficult season.
A huge motivator, an unbelievable leader, he gives everybody his time."
Toto Wolff and Mercedes
Wolff has built a positive relationship with everyone within Mercedes. Toto is a man who is one of the best in his job, so it's no wonder why Mercedes had such good results in the past.
“It doesn’t matter if they are a chief aerodynamicist or working on the shop floor, he respects everybody. I think that’s why he still has such a team around him and so much trust. I feel fortunate to work with such a great guy”.
What can make Mercedes fans happy is Wolff's announcement that his team will work on progress in the coming months. "We will consistently be bringing upgrades to the car over the next few races, which is something to look forward to,” Wolff said in a Q&A.
Wolff is a man who realistically observes the situation and does not want to create too much optimism, but still believes in his team. “But there is no such thing as a magic bullet that transforms the car, and it's about being realistic with your expectations. Hopefully we will see a steady improvement”.
