McLaren F1 Team boos Zak Brown had unfurled earlier this week that the British F1 Team had been in an advanced stage talk with Volkswagen AG over a potential tie-up between Audi and McLaren citing nothing had yet been agreed.
Latest remarks from McLaren F1 Team boss Zak Brown came forth just weeks after a press agency report had unveiled that a formal accord between Audi and McLaren had been on the table. Nonetheless, Brown was quoted saying that McLaren’s Mercedes-powered engine would not be changed until 2026, when McLaren is expected to introduce a new engine adding the lightning Formula One volant would take a wait-and-see approach on whether VW brands choose to take the challenge.

Meanwhile, speaking with reporters at the McLaren Factory, Brown said to the reporters, “I am hearing they (Volkswagen) are going to do something with Red Bull on the Porsche front.
“I think they’ve spoken with a handful of people on the grid and as you would imagine we have had conversations but in the short term and medium term we’re very happy where we are. “I think that’s not been definitively decided and if they do (enter), we have a contract (with Mercedes) through this term.
“Naturally we’re going to evaluate where we are and who’s in the sport and take a decision on what we’re going to do in 2026 in due course." A German Newspaper F.A.Z report had recently revealed that the supervisory board of Volkswagen would decide at end-February on whether both of its luxury brands such as Audi and Porsche would set their foots on Formula One tracks.
