Elon Musk has changed the Twitter logo, replacing the iconic blue bird with an X, in the web version of his social network. The old Twitter logo, on the other hand, has remained unchanged for the mobile apps, but the change will soon be extended to iOS and Android as well.
Elon Musk had changed the company name to X Corp. in April, and it is the X that dominates the new logo of the famous social media. It is a white X with one bar thicker than the other, set against a black background. In a previous survey, Musk had asked his followers to express themselves on a possible switch of corporate colors from classic blue to black.
Above all, the X of the new Twitter logo conveys a completely different message than the previous logo. Musk explained that the X of the new Twitter logo not only recalls the new corporate name X Corp., but embodies those imperfections that make each of us unique.
According to The New York Times, the first time the entrepreneur publicly expressed his willingness to change the Twitter logo was during a live audio in which he apologized for not having done something sooner that should have been done a long time ago.
Musk would have written an email to employees, announcing the change of course and that the one just received would be the last communication sent from an email address with the Twitter corporate domain. Musk changed his profile picture to what he called a Twitter/X Corp.
logo and shared a photo of himself with his arms crossed in front of a Tesla Model X poster. Elon Musk announced the rebranding of Twitter to X.com over the weekend. "Soon we may have to say goodbye to the Twitter brand and, gradually, also to all the birds," wrote the tycoon in a sibylline tweet, a term which among other things will soon no longer make sense to exist.
Linda Yaccarino also announced the birth of a sort of universal app powered by AI, which will include classic social features, but also messaging and payment systems. She said: "X is the future version of limitless interactivity, centered around audio, video, messaging, payments/banking, creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services and opportunities.
Powered by artificial intelligence, X will connect us all in ways we're only just beginning to imagine. There's absolutely no limit to this transformation. X will be the platform that offers, well…everything."
