During the observance of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, former US President Donald Trump reignited controversy by accusing liberal Jews of voting against the interests of both the United States and Israel. His message appeared to be a critique of those in the Jewish community who did not support his administration or policies related to Israel.

"Just a quick reminder for liberal Jews who voted to destroy America & Israel because you believed in false narratives!" he stated in a post. He added a hopeful note, "Let’s hope you learned from your mistake & make better choices moving forward!”

Trump's Record with Israel: An Overview

The former President was eager to underscore what he saw as his administration's significant contributions to Israel-US relations.

Among his touted achievements were the recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and the momentous relocation of the US Embassy to Jerusalem. Amid these claims, he also sought to clarify that he is not anti-Semitic.

Michelle Terris, founder of JEXIT, an organization advocating for Jewish Americans to part ways with the Democratic Party, affirmed that Trump's post was inspired by a JEXIT flyer that had been previously shared on Instagram. "We believe he shared it on Truth Social because he is so proud of his record of support for the Jewish community in America and for the State of Israel,” remarked Terris.

She further expressed gratitude to the former President for sharing their message, emphasizing, “As our post states, there has been no greater friend to American Jews and the State of Israel than fmr. President Donald J.

Trump. We are deeply concerned that many Liberal Jews in America do not recognize the former President’s history of accomplishments in supporting our people and instead vote blindly for the Democratic Party”.

Balancing Praise and Concern

While some laud Trump's support for Israel, he has not been without critics in the Jewish community.

The Jerusalem Post notes that Trump has previously caused unease among American Jews by suggesting they are disloyal to Israel, especially those who did not vote for him. This complex interplay between politics, faith, and diplomacy continues to shape the discourse on US-Israel relations and the broader American political landscape.
