Elon Musk's company, xAI, is venturing into the development of its very own iteration of ChatGPT, as conveyed through Musk's Twitter updates. This innovative model, christened Grok, is designed to answer a wide spectrum of questions across various subjects, presumably relying on a knowledge base similar to the one employed in training ChatGPT and akin programs.

One noteworthy feature of Grok is its "real-time access to information," as highlighted by Musk. In parallel with ChatGPT, this model also exhibits the capability to perform Internet searches, enhancing its capacity to provide up-to-date information.

Musk hinted at a critical distinction in Grok's responses, particularly in cases involving sensitive queries. For example, when asked "how to make cocaine," Grok is reported to respond with a touch of humor, diverging from ChatGPT's more conventional answers.

This shift toward a more playful tone is indicative of Grok's intended character.

The Grok system is available to one group of people starting today

On the availability front, Musk revealed that Grok would be initially accessible to a select group of users starting on November 4th.

However, he later announced that Grok would eventually become accessible to anyone with a Premium Plus subscription, which carries a monthly cost of $16, once it exits the early beta phase. This decision promises to democratize access to this new AI tool.

The genesis of Grok traces back to an announcement in July of the current year. Musk, in his visionary style, expressed his aspiration to "build AI to understand the true nature of the universe," implying that Grok's capabilities extend beyond just answering questions.

Notably, xAI, the company behind Grok, is helmed by Musk himself. Furthermore, it comprises a team of seasoned professionals from renowned institutions such as DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto, showcasing a confluence of talent and expertise that underpins the development and deployment of this exciting new AI model.
