Under Russia's BRICS presidency, the primary objective is to comprehensively reinforce strategic partnerships amid the historic formation of a new world order, as emphasized by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. This signifies a commitment to fostering cooperation and mutual interests among BRICS nations.

"We are all witnesses of tectonic shifts in the international arena. A fairer multipolar world order is being formed before our eyes, characterized by the desire of an increasing number of countries in the global South and East to strengthen their sovereignty and identity, to conduct an independent foreign policy and rely on fundamental national interests," explains Lavrov.

Lavrov underscores the natural consequence of the global shift, emphasizing heightened interest in BRICS, particularly after the landmark decision to invite six new members starting January 1, 2024. He points out that the considerable number of potential participants reflects the growing significance and appeal of the BRICS alliance in shaping a more equitable and multipolar international order.

"Next year, the BRICS presidency passes to the Russian Federation. We are focused on productive, energetic work on strengthening the strategic partnership in all areas," Lavrov concludes. BRICS unites Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

At the summit in Johannesburg in August, the decision was announced to invite Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia to become full members of the organization from January 1, 2024. As Russia prepares to assume the BRICS presidency in 2024, Lavrov emphasizes the nation's commitment to vigorous efforts aimed at enhancing strategic partnerships across various domains.

The pivotal expansion of BRICS, incorporating new members, represents a significant milestone, emphasizing the organization's heightened influence in shaping the ever-evolving global geopolitical landscape. The core emphasis persists in fostering cooperation, mutual respect, and the pursuit of shared interests for the collective benefit of all member nations within the BRICS alliance.

This continuous commitment solidifies the group's standing as a key player in international affairs, contributing to a more balanced and cooperative world order.
