The director of the game Hitman 3 to work on Crysis 4

With all the possible things happening in the gaming industry, you may have managed to forget that in January this year the Crytek development studio officially announced Crysis 4. In the last three months since the game announcement, we haven’t heard any news until today when they announced that their veteran Mattias Engström joined the study.

"We are happy to announce that Mattias Engström, known for his work as Game Director for Hitman 3 at IO Interactive, joins the Crysis family as Game Director for the 4th installment in the Crysis franchise, starting this week." said the official Crysis Twitter account.

Engström has worked for IO Interactive for a little over six years, in which his last role was as a director of Hitman 3, while as a level designer he also worked on the previous two games in the Hitman series (2016 and 2018).

Prior to joining IO Interactive, he had a nine-year career as a level designer at Ubisoft, where he worked from 2007 to 2016 on World in Conflict, Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Far Cry 3, and The Division.

Engström will be the director of Crysis 4

In his new job at Crytek Engström, he will be no less than the director of Crysis 4, and although the game itself was announced three months ago with the information that it is at a very early stage of development, it is still in that phase because Crytek's tweet points out that Engström only started working as a game director this week.

In short, this means that we will have to wait a long time for any news, screenshots, gameplay, and approximate release date. What we know so far since January is that this will be a "true next-gen shooter" as they called it on their official blog and that "Crysis 4" is her working name for now.

Until then, Crytek, following a tweet about the new director of the game, shared information that they are looking for new employees who would work on Crysis 4 in as many as 27 different positions.
