"Join us today to mark the 15th anniversary of Assassin's Creed," Ubisoft invited gamers, promising to talk briefly about the future of the series. And while the bulk of the 6-minute stream is dedicated to Valhalla and the new rogue-like mode, future titles took just a few seconds.
That was enough just for an invitation to one new presentation when they will be ready to reveal more. “Join us this September as we unveil the future of Assassin’s Creed during a special event,” they announced.
“We can’t wait to show you what’s in store”. Tuesday’s live stream was also used to announce new content coming to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. “This summer we’re offering a unique take on Assassin’s Creed gameplay,” said Jose Araiza, producer of Valhalla’s extended experience.
“It is my pleasure to present the first look at our latest and most ambitious game mode, The Forgotten Saga, which will be free to all Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players. “We’re excited for you to experience this summer a new rogue-lite-inspired journey into Niflheim, the spectacular realm of the dead.
“And stay tuned until the end of the year for one last surprise,” he added. “We will reveal the last episode of Eivor’s story as a free chapter for all players as well”.
The future of Assassin’s Creed?
The future of Assassin’s Creed could be the so-called Assassin’s Creed Rift we wrote about earlier this year.
Discovered by Jason Schreier at the time, the source mentioned the end of this year or the beginning of next year in the context of the launch, and it should be a more focused title without massive worlds or a return to AC as it once was - primarily an action-adventure.
At the time, Schreier claimed that a remake of the original Assassin’s Creed was in development, and when else to announce it than at its 15th-anniversary celebrations.
