CD Projekt has confirmed The Witcher 3's Next-Gen Update Set For 2022

Yesterday, CD Projekt closed the first 6 months of 2022 with their financial report (8% better results) and confirmed what we are all interested in - the Witcher 3 remaster for new consoles will be released this year. Adam Kicinski from CD Projekt said that the company is preparing for two projects by the end of 2022.

Along with the next-gen edition of Witcher 3, it is the Netflix TV series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which premieres on that platform on September 13. Both projects guarantee revenue growth in the second half of 2022, and two more big titles will be responsible for the same in the coming years.

Along with the previously announced The Witcher 4, Kicinski confirmed simultaneous work on another big, yet mysterious AAA title.

The Witcher 4

Earlier this year, in March, CD Projekt confirmed a new The Witcher. Unreal Engine 5 was selected for development, it will work closely with Epic, and now it has been confirmed that the four have entered a new phase of development.

We have recently completed the research phase, which means that the project has now progressed to pre-production, and we are starting to benefit from development expenses related to this new game. We are so excited to be able to revisit the universe that built our history up to this point." CD Projekt financial director Piotr Nielubowicz told investors.

In video games, the pre-production stage is more of a creative stage than anything else. The story, and concepts are defined, development departments are planned and arranged, finances are arranged... Probably the most important period of development of any game can last several months or even a year, which means that we are years away from playing the new Witcher.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is coming to PS5, XSX/S and PC

Along with Witcher 4 and another AAA title, CD Projekt is also preparing an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 called Phantom Liberty for next year, which brings an expansion of the story and a new area of the city but only for new consoles and PC.
