Adding points for games with an average score higher than 75, subtracting points for games with scores of 49 or below, and adding bonus points for games with scores of 90 or higher are added to the ranking. There was a time when Microsoft (Xbox) was the most successful game publisher in 2021, but in 2022 Sony Interactive Entertainment took over the title.
Despite the fact that it may sound a little little unbelievable, this is actually the first time in the 13 years since Metacritic began compiling this list that Sony has been crowned the most successful game publisher. As far as the year 2022 is concerned, Sony definitely had a successful year with games such as God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo 7, but one of the biggest factors in this success was the fact that God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, and many others were ported over to the PC.

The company that came second in the rankings was Ubisoft, which finished in 38th position after having a horrible year. Even though Elden Ring was one of the biggest games last year, Bandai Namco only ranked 24th overall in terms of sales, a huge drop from 2021 when the game ranked 7th overall.
