Building on the immense popularity of 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man and its 2020 counterpart, Miles Morales, which served as the flagship launch title for the PlayStation 5, the highly anticipated Spider-Man 2 is set to deliver an extraordinary gaming experience.

This time, the game unites both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they collaborate to confront formidable adversaries, including the formidable Venom and a covert mercenary faction known as the Hunters. Spider-Man 2's initial reception has been nothing short of extraordinary, with Sony proudly announcing that it achieved a remarkable milestone of 2.5 million copies sold within a mere 24 hours of its release.

In a recent appearance on the Friends Per Second podcast, Bryan Intihar, the creative director behind Spider-Man 2, subtly teased what the future might hold for Insomniac's cherished Spider-Man series. Intihar's comments hinted at the prospect of a third installment in the series and drew parallels to the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

He likened the evolution of the Spider-Man game series to the MCU's phased approach, where the Infinity Saga spanned from 2008's Iron Man to the epic conclusion in 2019's Avengers: Endgame. This intriguing analogy suggests that the Spider-Man game series may continue to grow and develop with future entries.

The studio is actively crafting a standalone Wolverine game, scheduled for release in 2024

The tremendous commercial success of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, solidifying its status as the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in history, further reinforces the likelihood of a third installment being in development.

Moreover, the game's conclusion leaves tantalizing hints about the future adventures of Spidey and his allies. For fans of the Marvel Universe who do not yet own a PlayStation 5, patience may be required, as PC ports often follow PlayStation releases.

However, they can take comfort in the fact that Insomniac Games has some thrilling projects in the works. Most notably, the studio is actively crafting a standalone Wolverine game, scheduled for release in 2024. Additionally, Senior Narrative Director Jon Paquette has tantalized fans with the promise of an upcoming game centered around the enigmatic and iconic character, Venom.

With this ever-expanding gaming universe, fans can eagerly anticipate more exciting adventures and captivating narratives within the Marvel gaming realm.
