Despite critical acclaim and the commercial success of Starfield and Forza Motorsport, Xbox continues to struggle in the European market. According to GSD, sales of Xbox consoles in Europe fell by 52% in October 2023 compared to the same month last year.

This decline comes even as Xbox's audio game offering has expanded. In contrast, PlayStation 5 sales increased by 143% in October 2023 compared to the same month last year. This remarkable growth indicates that PlayStation maintains its strong position in the European market.

Playstation has held a leading position among consoles in Europe for years, and it looks like it will continue to do so. Xbox's performance is even more disappointing compared to September 2023. While PlayStation 5 and Switch sales increased from September to October, Xbox sales fell by 20%.

Assassin's Creed Mirage ahead of Spider-Man 2

The European gaming landscape also experienced a surprising upheaval in October. Assassin's Creed Mirage has outsold Marvel's Spider-Man 2, a PlayStation 5 exclusive. This unexpected outcome underscores the enduring popularity of the Assassin's Creed franchise.

Alan Wake 2, the long-awaited sequel to the cult classic Alan Wake, is absent from the October bestseller list. This absence is attributed to Epic Games' policy of not sharing sales data and the lack of a physical release of the game.

Probably, that title would also occupy a place among the top 10. Here's a look at the ten best-selling games in Europe during October 2023: 1.EA Sports FC 24
2.Assassin's Creed Mirage
3.Marvel's Spider-Man 2
4.Super Mario Bros.

5.GTA 5
6.Lords of the Fallen
7.Battlefield 2042
8.Hogwarts Legacy
9.Red Dead Redemption 2
10.It Takes Two Overall, October's sales figures paint a worrying picture for Xbox in Europe. While Starfield and Forza Motorsport garnered critical acclaim and solid sales, they appear to have had little impact on the Xbox's overall market performance. As the year draws to a close, we'll see if Xbox finds its way to the audience.
