The Far Cry series has developed a reputation for incredible villains, with each new entry in the franchise throwing more and more focus on its antagonist. After Giancarlo Esposito excelled as Anton Castillo in Far Cry 6, Cillian Murphy is rumored to be the star of Far Cry 7.

Murphy, an Oscar-nominated actor, recently won hearts with his portrayal of Robert J. Oppenheimer in the 2023 hit. However, his repertoire is much richer. He is also the main protagonist of the popular BBC series Peaky Blinders, has had roles in several Christopher Nolan films, and was even part of the classic zombie thriller "28 Days Later." According to well-informed Assassin's Creed leaker 'xj0nathan', we can expect an official Far Cry 7 reveal soon.

But perhaps the even bigger news is that the game is rumored to feature Cillian Murphy. Given the franchise's history of putting villains in the spotlight, Murphy will likely be the primary antagonist if these rumors are true.

The first whispers and rumors about Far Cry 7 began to be heard last year. Reports have claimed that the game will introduce significant changes, including a 72-hour timer (similar to Dead Rising) and a new quest mechanism.

Considering his recent success with Oppenheimer, bringing an actor like Cillian Murphy into Far Cry 7 would be a big move for Ubisoft. His charisma and ability to portray villains with multiple dimensions could make Far Cry 7 something special.

Additionally, Murphy's role could open the door for a more interesting examination of the show's villains. Far Cry is known for its eccentric and dangerous antagonists, but Murphy could bring depth to the character and maybe even an opportunity for the player to question his motives.

Will Murphy be a sociopathic dictator like Pagan Min or a religious fanatic like Joseph Seed? The possibilities are numerous, and Murphy's role is sure to pique the interest of players. Of course, it should be emphasized that these are just rumours.

Ubisoft has yet to confirm anything about Far Cry 7, especially not the inclusion of Cillian Murphy. But given Murphy's talent and Far Cry's history of favoring villains, this rumor makes a lot of sense. With an official reveal expected soon, it won't be long until we find out if Murphy will be the series' next iconic villain.
