Greg Norman: "I respect Rory McIlroy but I am somewhat confused by.."

Rory McIlroy currently has 21 PGA titles after winning the Canadian Open in June this year. McIlroy seemed to want to provoke Greg Norman (who has 20 PGA titles) after the win. "This is a day I'll remember for a long, long time.

My 21st PGA Tour win - one more than someone else. That gave me a little extra incentive today and I'm happy to get that."- McIlroy said, as quoted by golfmonthly. Greg Norman decided to answer Rory and didn't wait long. However, Norman believes that the main motive of his statement is his love for the PGA Tour, which is a great rival of Liv Golf.

"I respect Rory but I am somewhat confused by his approach,” he said for Australian Golf Digest. "But then, he is paid to sit on the PGA Tour’s Player Advisory Council, so he is obviously going to support the Tour.

I do know he has asked for sizeable appearance fees to play in Saudi Arabia."

Greg Norman on McIlroy's success

Nevertheless, Norman decided to provoke McIlroy in one way and set certain goals for him. "His comments also show competition is a wonderful thing.

I take it as a compliment that he wanted to beat my 20 PGA Tour wins. His next goal should be to win more than 91 tournaments globally or to maintain No.1 in the world for more than 331 weeks." Recently, McIlroy also commented on LIV Golf, but also on the golfers who left the PGA Tour and headed for the competition supported by Saudi Arabia.

"I think my stance on it has been pretty clear from the start," said McIlroy. "It's not something that I want to participate in. I certainly understand the guys that have went. I understand what their goals and their ambitions are in their life.

And I'm certainly not knocking anyone for going. It's their life, it's their decision. They can live it the way they want to."
